Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University (DU) Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique said the cultural renaissance must be created among the young generation to resist the religious fundamentalism, militancy and social unrest.
Stressing on the expansion of cultural activities Professor Siddique said, “There is no alternative to resist the religious militancy without creating cultural renaissance among the young generation of the country,” he said this recently while addressing the concluding ceremony of a cultural function as the chief guest on the campus.
DU Teacher Student Center (TSC) and DU Sangskritik Sangsad jointly organized the concluding and prize giving ceremony at the TSC auditorium following the completion of a two-day long cultural competition held from November 20 to 21 on the campus where a total of 531 students took part in the competition.
DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr Nasreen Ahmad addressed the function as the special guest while Moderator of DU Sangskritik Sangsad Sabrina Sultana Chowdhury, Moderator of DU Debating Society Dr Mahbuba Nasrin and Moderator of DU Mime Action Dr Father Tapan Kamilus D Rozario were present at the occasion, among others.
Later Professor Arefin distributed the prizes among the winners.
