UNB, Chittagong :
Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (Cuet) was declared closed for an indefinite period on Thursday amid student protests following the death of a fellow student in a road crash on March 29.
The decision was taken in an emergency meeting of the university authorities around 1 pm. Male students have been asked to vacate their four dormitories by 3pm on Thursday while the female ones by 10 am on Friday.
Mohammad Fazlur Rahman, assistant director of Cuet Public Relations department, said the university’s postgraduate academic activities will continue.
Earlier on March 29, the university students started their protest programmes to realise their nine-point demand following the death of Md Mohaiminul Islam Siyam, a 4th year student of Architecture department.
