Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB) organized a discussion program on ‘Bijoy Dibosh-2017’ on Tuesday at its auditorium. Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Media Adviser to the Prime Minister and Editor, the Daily Observer delivered speech on historical Bijoy Dibosh-2017 of Bangladesh as chief guest. Prof MA Arafat Management and Head of Advisory Board, CUB chaired the discussion and gave vote of thanks to the presents while Acting Vice Chancellor of CUB Prof William H Derrenger conveyed welcome speech. Students of Canadian University of Bangladesh recited two famous poems on Victory Day at the program. SM Arifuzzaman, Associate Professor and Head, School of Business conducted the program.
Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury urged the students that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman liberated the country and now her daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is developing the country with the slogan of making a digital Bangladesh. He also said that the historic 7th March Speech of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has been included in the international memory of the world register as world documentary heritage by UNESCO. This recognition of the 7th March Speech has made the whole nation proud once again.
Mentioning the contribution of the freedom fighters he said they are our pride. They’ve liberated the country sacrificing their lives during the War of Liberation in 1971.
Ekushey Padak winning Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra singer and Founder, Wrishiz Shilpi Gosthi Fakir Alamgir reminisced the days of liberation war and told the reason behind forming musical platform which took Gono Sangeet to a new height and reached to the mass people across the country.
His speech included patriotic song, and also sang his most notable songs like ‘Dam Diye Kinechi Bangla’, ‘Bhoy Ki Morone’, ‘Mujib Amar Swapna Sahos’ and others.
Special guest Dr Mohammad Mahfuzul Islam, Professor and Former Head, Computer Science and Engineering Department of BUET and President of Bangladesh Computer Society in his speech said Prime Minister Sheikha Hasina has earned the reputation of the mother of humanity her humanitarian attitude and love and affection to millions of Rohingya refugees from the neighbouring Myanmar.
Among others, Brig Gen Md. Asaduzzaman Subhani (Retd.), Registrar, Hanif Mahtab, Associate Professor of Business School and Proctor In-charge and Head of Career Service Wing, Md. Latiful Khabir, Associate Professor of Business School and Head of Student Service Wing and Students’ Directorate, Dr Abdullah- Al- Monzur Hussain, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Law, Dr Nurul Islam Babul, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Film and TV, Dr Akim M Rahman, Assistant Professor, School of Business and other faculties and officers of Canadian University of Bangladesh were also present in the program.
