The Vice Chancellor of Chattogram University Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury reportedly said he wished he could slap the former Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha if he would get chance, reports the online service of a leading Bengali national daily yesterday.
It said, the VC during a discussion on Tuesday marking Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s 43rd death anniversary at Social Science faculty auditorium of the university made the comment.
“The former chief justice is conspiring against Bangladesh. He privately met with executed war criminal Mir Quasem’s younger brother Mamun in New York. SK Sinha was paid a huge amount of money to make statements and conspire against the country. Several newspapers have reported this too,” Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury has been quoted as saying.
The VC said, “I will slap SK Sinha if I ever get to meet him. I will definitely do so. No one can stop me.”
VC also said, “There are some people who never uttered a word in support of Bangabandhu in his life but now act like his supporters. It seems to be a big conspiracy.”
The meeting was presided by Bangabandhu Parishad president Md Rashed-un-Nabi, while the Pro-VC of the university Shirin Akhter made a speech as special guest, the report said.
