CU Correspondent :
Students of Chittagong University (CU) locked the main gate of the university demanding the regular operation of three pairs of shuttle trains which have been stopped for a month.
University students started the movement by locking the main gate around 1.30 pm on Sunday.
Later students withdrew the movement and opened the lock of the gate when CU Proctor Dr.Robiul Hasan Bhuiyan gave assurance to start the bus service till the train movement resumed.
University sources said in the mileage issue, the railway authorities decided not to run three pairs of shuttle trains from January 26. As a result the students are suffering huge transport crisis to come to the campus.
CU Proctor Dr. Rabiul Hasan Bhuiyan said that three pairs of shuttles are stopped due to staff crisis. University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shireen has already spoken to the Railway Minister in this regard. Hopefully the shuttle will run on a regular schedule by Sunday. And from today, three pairs of buses will run for the students.
