CU Correspondent :
The Chittagong University (CU) authorities on Tuesday recovered around 250 ‘jihadi books’ from seminar room of Arabic Department, Proctor Ali Asgar Chowdhury said.
The names of the books, recovered in the afternoon yesterday, were not in the list of books that the Arabic Department had provided to the CU authorities before, the proctor also mentioned.
After it surfaced in the news that Nurul Islam Marzan-“the in-charge of the Gulshan Café attack”-is a student of Arabic department at CU, the university authorities conducted an inspection yesterday noon at the library in the seminar room of Arabic department as well as the Islamic Studies department. The seized books contained jihadi propaganda ideologies written by various writers including Jamaat founder Maududi, claimed the CU authorities. Meanwhile, the authorities have issued a show cause letter to Prof M Ismail Chowdhury, Chairman of Arabic department, asking why his department failed to submit a list of absent students of the department within July 21.
