The two-day long golden jubilee celebration of Chittagong University’s (CU) Department of Physics concluded on Saturday.
The festivity began on Friday with a colourful procession on the campus led by Vice Chancellor Prof Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury.
Several thousand students of the university including current and former of the department participated in the procession, carrying balloons, festoons and placards.
The procession was followed by a discussion presided over by the VC. National Professor Dr Jamilur Reza Chowdhury, Pro-Vice Chancellor of CU Prof Shirin Akhter, Emeritus Professor of Rajshahi University Dr Arun Kumar Basak, Professor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Mohammad Kaikobad and Nano Satellite Adviser Md Khalilur Rahman were present as special guest among others.
The celebrations ended with a cultural programme yesterday, in which noted bands and students of the department participated.
