CU observes Victory Day

Chittagong University (CU) yesterday celebrated Victory Day following health instructions.
Different political, social and cultural organizations and educational institutions laid wreaths at the Shaheed Minar to pay tribute to the war heroes who sacrificed their lives in 1971 Liberation War.
CU organized daylong programs including a discussion meeting On the campus to observe the day. Earlier, the authority of the university decorated the campus’ important establishments with colorful lighting, said a press release.
CU VC Prof Dr. Shireen Akter placed a wreath at CU ‘Shadhinota Smarok’ at 8:30am and later he inaugurated the ‘Bijoy rally’, which paraded the main routes of the campus.
After placing wreath of the Pro-VC, Chittagong University Teachers Association (CUTA), Officials Club and different political, cultural and social organizations laid wreaths.
A discussion was held at the campus after the rally.
In the discussion, Prof Shireen
said that attack to the statue of Bangabandhu means an attack on the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh.
All these anti-independence reactionary groups never wanted the independence of Bangladesh.
 Many members of the Senate and Syndicate, Proctor, Assistant Proctors and Deans were present at the discussion among others.
