Around 85% students of Communication and Journalism Department of Chittagong University couldn’t appear in the first-year final examination held on Saturday due to the countrywide siege programme , called by the 2o- party alliance.
CU sources said, some 15 students has appeared in the examination while 70 students was disappeared in the examination of the course no. 103 (history of Journalism).
Mohammad Zakaria Khan, chairman of exam committee said, the atmosphere of country has not turned into uncongenial yet for not taking the exam.
Besides, the student-carrying shuttle train, the local busses are operating as usual without any fear of violence while the road of the city-university has not affected yet and the other departments are taking examination amid the siege.
Some students said, they couldn’t manage to attend in the examination as their parents didn’t send them in the University exhibiting the picture of the violation, committed by the protestors in the country and as they feared of the attack.
Dr. Mohammad Mahiuddin, acting controller of the examination told The New Nation that the examination committee has taken the decision but the examination should not be taken while more than two-third of the students disappeared in the examination.
The department must arrange further examination on consideration of the deprived students, he added.
On condition of anonymity a student told The New Nation that, the teachers have taken the examination neglecting the 70 students.
