Chittagong University, the top educational institute of the southern part of the country is going to celebrate its two-day-long grand jubilee function in the next month amid eccentric festivity, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury said. The two-day-long function will be kicked off from November 18, starting from the campus and the last day program would take place in the city’s MA Aziz Stadium in presence of expected 10 thousand participant more.
The upcoming function got the current and ex-student excited, having the chance to gather with the varsity friends, seniors and juniors but now the impose of Tk 1500 on the ex-student and Tk 500 on current student as fee dissatisfy the students.
The students have chosen the social communication site Facebook to protest the university’s decision for collection of fees from the participants. Many ex-students talked with the reporter about the decision of the authorities, who alleged that the university authority imposed tk 1500 for each which is absolutely a trade. They also revealed their will to participate the program but due to scarcity of fees, they grieved. A current student of Public Administration department on condition of anonymity raised question that if her department could manage the departmental grand juvenile function with no fee from the students, so why not the university? She also posted her vex on the Facebook.
Meanwhile, the university authority has withdrawn their imposure of fees on the current student in the face of protest from the current student but the authorities announced no other tiffin, launch or memorandum would be given to the current student.
