Aiming to resist militancy and terrorist activities on the campus, the Chittagong University authority formed a cell to prevent militancy and terrorism on Thursday.
The 17-member cell, headed by CU Vice-Chancellor Prof Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury was formed to ensure proper educational environment on the campus and resist militancy, said CU Proctor Ali Asgar Chowdhury, also member secretary of the cell.
CU protests terror attacks: Teachers and students of Chittagong University formed a human chain on the campus on Wednesday protesting the recent terror attacks in Gulshan and Sholakia.
They held the programme under the banner of CU Teachers Association (CUTA) in front of the Central Shaheed Minar where Vice Chancellor Prof Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury was present as the chief guest.
Prof Iftekhar said all of us should get united to save the society from militancy, urging the students to come forward to build up a peaceful Bangladesh.
CUTA President Prof AFM Aowrangazab said, “Killing innocent people in the name of religion is prohibited in Islam.”
CU Registrar Prof Kamrul Huda and Proctor Ali Asgar Chowdhury, among others, spoke.
Meanwhile, CU students also brought out a procession on the campus.
