Around 150 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League, who did not get expected posts in the newly formed committee of Chittagong University unit, blocked Chittagong-Hathazari road for half an hour yesterday, demanding reformation of the new body.
BCL central unit’s president Saifur Rahman Sohag and secretary SM Jakir Hossain announced the committee on Monday.
On police intervention, they withdrew their blockade and announced to go for an indefinite transport strike for the university vehicles and train from today if their demand is not met by 11:00am today, as per their 48-hour ultimatum, said Mizanur Rahman Bipul, one of the protesters.
The demonstrators also padlocked the university’s main gate for minutes.
