Chhatra League activists beat up two students of Chittagong University (CU) on the campus. The incident took place on Saturday at the university’s sociology Jupri.
One of the victims was identified as Meher Lal Sarkar. He is a master’s student in Oceanography department of the university.
The name of the other was not identified.
Among them,Meher Lal was given treatment at the University Medical Center.
BCL activities were known as follower of Jahed Awal, former finance secretary of CU BCL.
According to eyewitness sources, the victim along with his sister and classmates was sitting in the Jupri. Later, an activities of BCL came to Jupri with his girlfriend and saw water on table. He blamed that the victim spread the water on table. Afterward BCL activist went to the hall and brought a few other activists from hall.
They beat the victim up severally in front of his sister,who came to the university with her younger brother for visiting the campus.
Contracted,Jahed Awal, a former finance secretary of the CU unit, said, the incident took place because of misunderstanding.
We are trying to solve it.
Assistant proctor of the university, Hanif Mia said that action will be taken against those who involved in the incident after investigation .
