The entry test to enroll the new students for the first year honors courses of Chittagong University under 2016-17 academic session begins today (Sunday) through holding the A unit admission test.
A total of 32,779 students have applied for 551 seats under ‘A’ unit, scheduled to be held at 10.30 am today where around 60 students would fight for a seat.
Admission affairs committee secretary and deputy registrar SM Akbar Hossain, confirmed it to the correspondent, saying a total of 2 lakh 44,579 students would vie for the 4791 seats under several units this year, which is the ever largest number of students coming here to enroll in the university.
This year, six more outer campuses have been added to ease the admission test, he added. The outer campuses are-Hathazari College, Premier University (wasa campus), Anaiet Bazar Women College, Ispahani Public School and College, Omar Goni MES College and Port City International University.
CU Proctor Ali Azgor Chowdhury told this correspondent that all out security measures have been taken to avoid any kind or disruption and ease the admission test in a peaceful environment. Plain clothes, detective branch (DB) and special branch (SB) police including mobile court will be deployed in and out of the campus to avoid any fraud and disorder.
The key points of the varsity would be kept on surveillance by the CCTV cameras, already posted in several points and the proctorial team will always keep eye on the screen of the CCTV footage, he added.
The administration also imposed embargo on hanging banner, distributing leaflets, posted festoon and poster in the varsity. Assistant proctor NiazMorshed said, the students affiliation also called upon not to post any other political activities in the campus during admission test.
Meanwhile, the shuttle train operation has been rescheduled for easing the transport during the admission test. The first train to the campus would head at 6.00 am from port city’s Battal Station and the later train at 7.30 am, 8.30 am, 9.30 am, 12.00 pm, 3.00 pm, 5.00 pm and 8.30 pm.
