The admission test for the first year honors courses of Chittagong University under 2016-17 academic year has been scheduled to be held on October 23 and the candidates could fill up the application form from Thursday by sending short message system (SMS) via state run telecom operator Teletalk.
Vice-Chancellor Proffessor Dr Iftakhar Uddin Chowdury on Wednesday evening inaugurated the process at the Fine Arts Institute while pro-vice chancellor Prof Dr Shirin Akthar and registrar Prof Dr Kamrul Huda among others were present.
Earlier, Secretary of the admission committee and deputy register SM Akbar Hossain confirmed it to the correspondent, saying the eligible students would fill up the application form via telecom operator Teletalk and the details of the admission process has been posted on the University’s websites WWW.Cu.ac.bd .
As per Vice-Chancellor’s statement, the university has added 138 seats in different units where 80 seats for the general students, 53 for the freedom fighters and five for quotas. A total of 4791 students would able to admit under the academic year through a tough contest.
Meanwhile, VC Dr Iftekhar also said, they have decided not to provide opportunity for the second time students for the next admission test referring the other universities which halted the second time students to appear in the admission test.
Those aspirants who can apply against their desired units, must pass the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) in 2012-14 and Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) in 2015-16 and have the minimum quality as per the unit based condition.
The admission fee has been remained unchanged this year and it was tk 475 excluding value added tax (VAT) per each application while the numbers of seat under different departments were increased.
Meanwhile, the eligibility of the aspirants was increased as the overall HSC result of this year was laudable. The aspirants who can apply under A, E, C, E, F, G, I and J unit, must have 7.00 point (SSC+HSC) including the forth subject but none is eligible for being aspirants who failed to obtain minimum 3.00 point in each exam.
