The rail communications of Chittagong with Dhaka and Sylhet resumed after six hours of suspension following a collision between a Demu train and a truck at Banasua in Sadar upazila here yesterday .
The accident took place around 8:45am when the sand-laden truck hit the Comilla-bound Demu train at an unauthorised level-crossing, said Shafiqur Rahman, the station master of Comilla Railway Station.
Following the collision, the wheels of the train veered off the rail tracks, he said.
Three Dhaka-bound trains, including ‘Subarna Express’, got stranded at Comilla Railway Station following the derailment.
However, the train communications on Chittagong-Dhaka and Chittagong-Sylhet routes resumed around 2:45pm after a relief train from Akhaura rushed to the spot and salvaged the Demu train, the station master added.
