To protest the brutal killings of private TV channel producer Nurul Islam Faruqui , several protest rallies were held in different city areas of Chittagong on Thursday .
The largest protest rally was held infront of chittagong press club as arranged by Chatra Sena, Islami Front , Ahle Sunnat and Gousia committee yesterday which continued till writing this report.
The speakers in the rally blamed Jamaat -shibir and Hefazate Islam for this brutal killin and demanded exemplary punishment of the culprits. The also demanded prohibition of Jamaat -Shibir politics from the country.
The participants in the demonstration chanted slogans against Jamaat -Shibir fundamentalist.
Earlier on Wednesday night soon after announcement of death of Faruqui by a group of miscreants by cutting throats at his residence in Razarbagh , Dhaka on Wednesday night. To protest the brutal killings, the areas of Muradpur to Solasahar No.2 gate turned battle field on Wednesday night.
Eye witnesses sources said following the spreading the news of killing of Faruki, about 100 activists of Islami front, Chhatra Sena seized Hathazari road at Muradpur point and vandalized a number of shops and 50 vehicles.
The properties of Shahjajal Islami Bank , Islami Bank, Hotel Zaman, ATM booths and a number of shops were ransacked by the agitated Chhatra Sena and Islami front activities . Plying of transports from Bahaddarhat to Solasahar, Muradpur, Bibirhat, remained standstill till 12 midnight different sources said .
Besides, protest rally also held at Bibirhat, Agrabad, Jamalkhan, GEC crossing by the activists Ahle Sunnat al Jamaat. On the other hand Chhatra Sena sieged Kaptai road at the estuary of Bahaddarhat on Thursday s bu setting fire on tires to protest the killings.
