Chittagong Bureau :
Students of different schools and colleges in the cityon Saturday staged a sit-on program for nearly two hours in front of Chittagong Education Board, protesting a government decision to increase the number of creative questions in SSC and HSC examinations. Around 2500 students from 35 institutions took part in the protest programme held between 12pm to 2pm.
The agitating students chanted different slogans against the new system saying, “We will not obey the system of seven creative questions. We are men, not robots”.
Addressing the protest rally, the agitating students said previously they had to answer six creative questions.
“But from now on we will have to answer seven creative questions in two and a half hours time. It would be very difficult for us to do well in the examinations unless the time is increased”, they added. They also urged the government to cancel the decision and bring back the previous system of answering six creative questions. On September 29, police charged baton on the agitating students at city’s GEC Intersection where the students gathered to protest the move.
Earlier on September 25 last, several thousand students also formed a human-chain in front of Chittagong Press Club protesting the decision.
