The Home Ministry recently sent 30 sensational cases including 24 murder cases to Chittagong Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal (SDSTT) for quick disposal.
Tribunal sources said the cases were sent to the SDSTT on Sunday following a notification from the Home Ministry on January 11 this year.
Special Public Prosecutor assigned to the tribunal Advocate Aiyub Khan said the cases include 24 sensational murder cases, five explosives cases and one arms case.
“The Tribunal for the very first time has received so many sensational cases and we hope to dispose of the cases within stipulated time” he added.
According to the tribunal sources, 19 among the 30 cases were filed with different police stations under Chittagong Metropolitan Police while 11 were with different police stations under Chittagong district.
The cases under CMP police stations are- two murder cases with Pahartali thana, three explosives cases with Khulshi thana, one murder case with Chandgaon thana, one murder case and one explosives case with Kotwali thana, one murder case with Bandar thana, one murder case with Panchlaish thana, 5 murder cases and one explosives case with Double Mooring thana, one murder case with Karnaphuli thana and two murder cases with Halishahar thana.
Besides, the cases filed with different police stations under the district are: three murder cases with Raozan thana, one murder case with Rangunia thana, one murder case with Lohagara thana, one murder case with Satkania thana, two murder cases with Patiya thana, one murder case with Anwara thana and two murder case with Chandanaish thana.
