Steamer service between Chittagong and Sandwip island upazila launches yesterday. Minister of Ports and Shipping Md. Shahjahan Khan formally inaugurated the steamer service from Sadarghat Terminal as Chief Guest.
Local legislator MA Latif, CPA chairman Rear Admiral Nizamuddin Ahemed, Chairman of BIWTC MizanurRahman , Joint Director Md. Akkas also were present on the occasion. The Minister is his inaugural address said for the continuous demands of the Sandwip dwellers for comfortable and risk free journey fro m Chittgong to Sandwip island, this steamer service was launched.
The steamer will leave from Sadarghat BIWTC terminal to Guptachara of sandwip on three days weekly, sources said. The legislator of Sandwip Mahfuzur Rahaman Mita demanded more service to and from Sandwip but the minister assures that gradually the number of services will be increased.
