Bangladesh Railway (BR) authorities here have started selling advanced tickets from today ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the biggest religious festival of the Muslims, to make the Eid holidaymaker’s journey smooth.
Abul Kalam Azad, Manager of Chattogram railway station said selling of advanced railway tickets began this morning. A total of 12 thousand tickets including six thousand by railway Apps will be distributed every day, he said.
Sayed Faruk Ahmed, General Manager, eastern zone said the authorities have taken stringent measures this year to check “ticket black -marketing” and to ensure safety and security of the home-bound passengers.
While visiting Chittagong Railway Station area, this correspondent found that the area was overly crowded by people since morning as they came to collect advance railway tickets at convenient schedule.
BR authorities here usually operates 10 trains from Chattogram everyday, five on Dhaka-Chattogram route, two on Chattogram-Sylhet route and two on Chattogram-Laksham-Chandpur route.
The authorities started issuing advanced tickets for these 10 train services which will start from May 31 and continue till June 4. The advance tickets are available from 8 am to 4 pm everyday.
Officials said a number of special trains will be operated before the day of Eid-ul-Fitr for carrying Chandpur, Mymensingh and Cumilla bound passengers.
