Chattogram Press Club the Union of Journalists have organized a condolence meeting on the death of veteran journalists Arun Dasgupta, Tamal Chowdhury, Abdus Shukkur and senior photo journalist Didarul Alam.
The mourning was held at S Rahman Auditorium of Chittagong Press Club on Saturday (August 28) morning. Press Club President Ali Abbas presided over the meet organized by Chittagong Press Club and Chittagong Journalists Union. General Secretary of the Union of Journalists Chowdhury Farid, General Secretary of the Press Club, gave a welcome address at the meet conducted by Shamsul Islam.
At the beginning of the mourning meet one minute’s silence was observed for the souls of all the deceased journalists.
Journalist leaders in it said that expressing grief at the codolence of 4 colleagues at the same time is really heartbreaking and painful. A few journalists have left us in recent times. We are also deeply saddened with the family of the late journalists. President of Chittagong Journalists Union Mohammad Ali, former president of Press Club Kalim Sarwar, senior vice -president of Chittagong Press Club Salahuddin Mohammad Reza reminisced at the rally.
Vice -President SM Ibrahim, Former President of Chittagong Journalists Union M Nasirul Haque and Shahid Ul Alam, Joint Secretary General of BFUJ Mohsin Kazi, Former Joint Secretary General Tapan Chakraborty, Joint Secretary of Chittagong Press Club Nazrul Islam, vice President of Chittagong Journalists Union Anindya Tito And joint general secretary Sabur Shuvo, former general secretary of Chittagong Journalists Union Nirmal Chandra Das, former chairman of Chittagong Journalists Housing Society Moinuddin Qaderi Shawkat, editor of Daily Naya Bangla ZM Enayet Ullah, veteran journalist Zahidul Karim Kochi, freedom fighter journalist Devprasad Das, Saifullah Chowdhury and others spoke on the occasion.
