Chattogram Chamber senior vice-president and managing director of Saif Powertech Tarafdar Ruhul Amin said that in the greater interest of the country, Chittagong port should be kept in smooth operation. The government has built the Patenga container terminal.
Work on the Bay Terminal is underway. As far as I know, the current port chairman is sincerely working on the implementation of the Bay Terminal. This is the master plan of the terminal. The port will have its own terminal there.
He was speaking to reporters at the World Trade Center in Agrabad on Monday last. He said 4,000 containers are delivered inside the port every day. If 3 trucks are caught in one container, 12 thousand trucks are moving. There is a container depot nearby. Our long-standing demand was that container delivery be carried out from the port. Delivery yards and truck terminals are being built in the Bay Terminal area as part of it. The project was taken up three years ago. The project needs to be implemented quickly to reduce traffic congestion and stagnation in the city.
