The factional feud among the leaders of Chittagong City Mahila Awami League has swept the Chittagong University unit Chhatra League.
The two groups of Chhatra League-one headed by BCL president AlamgirTipu and another by Fazle Rabbi Sujon involved into factional feud after a leader of president group posted a defamatory status on Facebook.
On February 17, BCL leader IrfatulAlamPitu posted a defamatory slang on Facebook, writing up ‘leader is leader, his son is ‘Keta’, now his wife turns into a leader and you eat everything’ focusingCtgAwami League politics.
Mentionable, Irfatul AlamPitu is a leader of president group, patronized by Ctg city Awami League General Secretary AJM Nasir Uddin. After the incident, the activists of Mahiuddin group being instigated and they bowed to take revenge of the post holders, as per the Facebook comments.
The Facebook posts create tension among the duo groups when the activists of Mahiuddin group assembled at the Shahjalal Hall and the activists of Nasir group came to protect them. The duo lock into chase and counter chase at Friday night.
Following the tension, an activist of Nasir group named Mofazzal Haider Mofa was assaulted yesterday.
The activists of Sujon Group allegedly chopped him in front of the Shahjalal Hall around 3.00 pm. He was sent to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
BCL president AlamgirTipu said, those who are involved in such kind of barbaric attack, would be brought to book organizationally and we will also go to the administration to take immediate measures against the culprits.
The factional feud of Chittagong MohilaAwami League came to light after the formation of newly elected body of Chittagong city unit with Hasina Mohiuddin, wife of Chittagong city Awami League president ABM Mahiuddin Chowdhury as president. While the Mohila leaders of another group, known as the supporters of Nasir group announced a counter committee against Hasina Mahiuddin, alleging that the formation of the fresh body was not formed properly.
