Speakers at roundtable say: Ctg lags behind for lack of plan

In spite of having all potentials, Chittagong is still lag behind due to lack of proper plan, policy and communication system, said the speakers in a round table meeting on Wednesday.
The Daily Kaler Kantho and Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) jointly oraganized the meeting on “Chittagong is the first choice for investment-how far to utilize the potentiality” at CCCI hall room Wednesday morning.
Presided over by Mahabubul Alam, President of CCCI said, despite Chittagong is a commercial hub, it cannot flourish for lack of proper management and policy.
A lot of foreign and domestic investors are keen to invest in Chittagong but they became reluctant due to shortage of gas and water, he added.
Imdadul Haque Milon, editor of the Daily Kaler Kantho said, communication systems should be developed first for overall development of Chittagong.
For development, Chittagong city needs a long term plan, he added. Speakers in the meeting also discussed about infrastructure development, power and gas crisis, tourism, water logging and traffic jam, Chittagong Port and airport.
Engineer Ali Ashraf, Engineer Faizullah, Managing Director of WASA, Faruk Iqbal, Bureau Chief of the Daily Kaler Kantho, Shomnath Halder, Assistant High Commissioner of India, Anjan Shekhar Das, director of BGMEA, Engineer Abu Sufian of Rehab, Shawkat Osman of BKMEA, Salamat Ali, president of shop-owner association, professor Sekander khan, vice-chancellor of East Delta university, Syed Sagir Ahmed, general secretary of Khatunganj Trade Association and Mahafuzul Haque Shah, director of CCCI spoke on the occasion.
