India’s low-cost SpiceJet will launch Chittagong-Kolkata flight from November 5. One way fare has been fixed at 5 ,613 Taka.
The return fare is Tk.10,104 per person.
Initially, the private company will operate flights on seventy-eight seater Dash-6 aircraft four days a week – Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. The flight will start from Kolkata Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport at 10:05 am on the scheduled day and will land at Shah Amanat International Airport at 12:15 pm. It will then leave for Kolkata at 12 noon.
Spice Jet’s sales manager Zahidul Hasan told media yesterday.
According to sources, state-owned Biman Bangladesh Airlines, private US Bangla and Regent Air were operating flights on the Chattogram -Kolkata route before the Corona epidemic began. Biman, US Bangla plans to resume flights on this route very soon.
Jahidul Hasan said India has introduced medical, business, diplomatic and other visas. Lots of passengers from Chattogram travel on this route regularly.
The advantage of Spice Jet is that it has its own connecting flights to various destinations from Kolkata. We hope to be able to operate flights every day of the week as the number of passengers increases as a low cost air.
Shah Amanat International Airport Manager Wing Commander. Farhad Hossain Khan told that state-owned Biman Bangladesh Airlines and private US Bangla have plans to launch Chittagong-Kolkata route soon.
We are also preparing for the addition of any new airlines to this route.”We are strictly monitoring the health issues due to the Corona epidemic,” he said. A certain amount of seats must be left vacant on international flights.
