Finally the road expansion works of Chattogram -Khagrachari road begins . In first year of the project, no works for expansion from Hathazari-Fatikchari-Manikchari-Matiranga-Khagrachari yet to be sighted.
And hence, after passing of 15 months of the project durations, the works of the project launched in a quick speed after evaluation of the planning ministry.
After end of the project at a cost of Tk.400 crores, the communications between Bangladesh and India will play a important role for promotions of trade between these two friendly countries. But the locals demanding to keep them out of the dust during the road expansion period .
Chattogram Roads and Highways Deptt sources said the expansion works will be done upto 32 kilimeters from Hathazari and the existing 18 feet breadth road will be turned into 34 feet including constructions of 38 culverts.
The project will be implemented in four packages at a cost of Tk.400 cr.
Sources said, RHD has taken this project in hand in 2017 for easing the communication systems between Khagrachari to Dhaka and Chattogram aimed at mitigating the public sufferings.
‘The project was approved by ECNEC in 2018 with time limit up to June 2021 but the 15 months of the project duration has already passed without any works. Mentionable that local Parliament member has inaugurated the project work on October 6 last and hence the contracting firms undergoing the works from Charia point of Hathazari-Fatikchari point.
RHD sources said the project works is expected to be completed by December next year.
After completion of the road expansion works, the sufferings of the people will be eliminated to maximum extents and it will be used as Bangladesh-India Moitree road.
