Ctg journos submit memo demanding arrest of attackers on Press Club

Journalists in Chittagong on Saturday submitted memorandum to the demanding immediate punishment to the attackers on journalists and Chittagong Press Club (CPC) recently.
The journalist leaders in the memorandum also demanded of the government to take action against the police officials who are on to divert the cases filed against attackers into different motive. The memorandum was submitted to the acting divisional commissioner, Chittagong, Sankar Ranjan Saha at his residence at 3.30 pm Earlier, CPC and Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ), jointly formed a human chain in front of CPC where the journalist leaders called for arresting the persons responsible for the attack and expelling them from their educational institutions if they study in any college or universities
They also warned that the journalists of Chittagong would go for tougher agitation programmes including removal of additional Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police, Dev Das Bhattarcharjee and Officer In charge of Kotwali Jasim Uddin for their alleged involvement of changing clauses of the cases.
CPC President Kalim Sarwar, CUJ President Riaz Haider Chowdhury, CPC General Secretary Mohsin Chowdhury, CUJ general secretary (GS) Mohammad Ali, CPJ joint secretary Chowdhury Farid, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Tapan Chakaraborti, CUJ Vice President Nirupom Das Gupta among others present during submission of the memorandum.
A group of unruly youths under the banner of ‘Oikyoboddho Sanaton Hindu Samaj’ attacked on CPC and severely roughed up some senior journalists from their agitation on Dec 6 last.
