Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation AJM Nasir Uddin said unless existing journalism , there will be no equality, balance in society as well as country .
He disclosed it while addressing the biennial conference and receptions to the talent journalists arranged by Chattogram Union of Journalists (CUJ) at Bangabandhu Hall of Chattogram Press Club on Wednesday as Chief Guest.
Noted social scientist and Vice- Chancellor of Premier University Dr Anupam Sen formally inaugurated the CUJ conference.
City Mayor in his brief deliberastions as chief guest said I am involved with the journos since long and said journalism and media are the fourth pillar of the state. Unless journalism, there will be no scopeof equality and balances in the society . He also emphasized the implementation of wage board award.
He said unless unity among the journos, the owners side takes opportunities for non-implementation. The special guest on the occasion Mollah Jalal , President of BFUJ said the conditions of journalists are most sorrowful rather the position of media owners are much well in comparison. He calls upon the Union leaders to ensure the service of the journos first of all and unanimous decision is must for the causes of journalists .
Secretary General of BFUJ Shaban Mahmud said journalists are passing the crucial times centring the implementation of 9th Wage Board.
CUJ President Nazimuddin Shamal presided over the conference .
Among others, Vice President of BFUJ Reaz Haider Chowdhury, Joint Secretary Mohsin Kazi and Chattogram Press Club Secretary Chowdhury Farid spoke on the occasion.
Besides, elderly journalist Nowsher Ali Khan, elderly journalist Pradip Dewanjee, have been awarded on the occasion. CPC Secretary Chowdhury Farid handed over the honourary crest to the talent journalists .

On the occasion, leaders of Chittagong Press Club and Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ ) expressed their firm commitment to work for the welfare of journalists simultaneously.
In his address, Press Club President Ali Abbas called on the entire committee, including the newly- elected President, the General Secretary, to mobilise the activities of the organisation beyond violence.
Newly elected CUJ President Mohammed Ali said, “With this honor, our responsibility has been widened .
CUJ’s newly- elected General Secretary. Shamsul Islam said the newly- elected committee will try to work as expected for the next two years.
At the same time, he expects the cooperation of Chittagong Press Club along with the leaders of BFUJ- Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists to carry out various activities.
Press Club President Ali Abbas and the leaders of the management committee received the newly -elected president and general secretary with a floral wreaths.
