Vehicular movement on Chittagong-Khagrachhari road remained suspended for 5 hours as some Jubo League leaders and activists of Fatikchhari upazila on Friday blocked different points of the road protesting the arrest of a fellow.
Jakir Hossain Mahmud, officer-in-charge of Fatikchhari Police Station, said police arrested the Jubo League activist Emaj Uddin Prokash Jam, 30, along with two rounds of bullets from his house on
Thursday night. Protesting the arrest, hundreds of leaders and activists of the party put up barricade at different points from Najirhat Jhonkar intersection to Bibir Hat bus stand in the upazila headquarters around 7am, said the OC.
They also burned tire on the road, halting vehicular movement that caused sufferings to the passengers.
Vehicular movement on the road resumed around 1 pm after a meeting between police and local Awami League and Jubo League leaders.
