Kotwali Police have arrested Farhad Hossain Rubel, accused in a murder case, who escaped from Chittagong Central Jail recently .
Kotwali Police Station of CMP Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nezam Uddin confirmed the information to media at 1pm yesterday . .He said Farhad Hossain Rubel was arrested at noon by a team of Kotwali police from Ballakandi Char area of Raipura police station in Narsingdi. Khulna DIG Prison Sagir Mia, head of the investigation committee formed by the jail authorities, said that Rubel escaped from the jail at 5:15 am on March 6. Inside the jail, CCTV footage of the border on the south side confirmed the development.
He said he was kept with other detainees on the sixth floor of Karnafuli Bhaban (Punishment Ward No. 15). Detainees who commit criminal acts inside the prison are kept there for twenty-four hours.
He added that Rubel came out from the ground floor of the Karnafuli building. In another CCTV footage, It saw jumping out over the boundary wall from the building next to it. Rubel stabbed a Bhangari businessman named Abul Kalam Abu in the chest at late night of February 5 in the SRB Rail Gate area of Sadarghat Police Station. Kalam died at the hospital the following morning while undergoing treatment. Kalam’s mother Morzina Begum filed a case with Sadarghat Police Station. Rubel was arrested and jailed in that case
