Inside the house, or at the corner of the neighborhood, or the street or in the market, even in the hospital everywhere the residents of the port city are infested with mosquitoes. Mosquito infestation in Chattogram has crossed the line since the beginning of this year. There is no protection from mosquito bites at any time of the day or night.
Meanwhile, city mayor M Rezaul Karim Chowdhury himself has questioned the quality of the mosquito repellent sprayed by Chattogram City Corporation (CCC).
The city corporation says that mosquitoes are on the rise due to temporary dams in canals under the city’s ongoing waterlogging project. At present, efforts are being made to control mosquitoes with a ‘crash program’ to clean the canals. But in the words of Amit Ghosh, a resident of Goalpara area, it is understood that the work is not going well.
He said, “My cousin is 18 months old. Even during the day, mosquitoes are so infested that most of the time they have to be kept inside mosquito nets.
Rafiqul Alam, a resident of Rahmatganj area, said that not only in the houses, but also on the roads and corners of the neighborhoods of the city without mosquito infestation.
Asked about this, City Corporation Mayor M Rezaul Karim Chowdhury said, “I have personally questioned the quality of the drugs used to kill. I have asked to know what medicine is used to kill mosquitoes in Dhaka. “
Emphasizing on cleaning canals and spraying drugs to ripe out mosquitoes, he said that a ‘crash program’ of cleanliness has been taken to kill mosquitoes in different wards. Besides, Mayor Rezaul said that he is ‘trying’ with the employees of the corporation to remove the garbage accumulated in various canals.
