The business community urged the political parties to observe other programmes alternative to hartal like demonstrations, human chain, and long march to press their demands home without affecting trade and commerce. .
They also opined that frequent hartals are creating a bad image abroad. So, the foreign buyers become reluctant.

Talking to journalists AKM Hafiz Akhtar, SP of Chittagong said, ‘We are ready to provide sufficient security for the transports on hartal days in the long distant routes in the district.’
He said that the transport would ply on the routes subject to the sufficient numbers of passengers and cargo.
AKM Hafiz Akhtar, in a meeting with the transport owners and workers on October 30 last at his chamber, assured of police protection during hartal hour. So, the transport owners and workers have agreed to ply their vehicles.
Moreover, the local administration has deployed additional numbers of members of law enforcing agencies in order to avert any untoward incident in the city during hartal time.
The Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) also deployed special forces in different areas of the city.
Besides, BGB members have been deployed in different areas of the city and the district.
