Chattogram Bureau :
Power generation has decreased in the whole country including Chattogram. After a long time, PDB has officially announced load-shedding in the port city. Now, against the demand of 1300 MW at peak hour in Chattogram, the average load-shedding is 300 to 350 MW per day, said the concerned engineer of PDB’s Chittagong region. Meanwhile, suffering has increased due to power outage several times a day. According to Bangladesh Power Development Board Distribution Chattogram South, there are a total of 22 power plants in Chattogram, including 8 government and 15 non-government power plants.
The generating capacity of these 22 power plants is 2,382 MW. But last Sunday, the total power generation in Chattogram was 1,310 MW. Due to the crisis of fuel oil and gas used in power generation, several power plants in Chattogram have been shut down like the rest
of the country.
