The state-owned Chittagong Dry-Dock Ltd. has started building oceangoing container carrying ship for the first time.
Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu yesterday formally inaugurated keel layering of building container carrying ship at the Chittagong Dry Dock premises.
The minister said the present government is working on improving living standard of common people trough ensuring sustainable and environment friendly industrialization. The National Industry Policy-2010 identified ship building and recycling as prioritized industry, he said.
Amu put emphasis on improving product quality to make the state-owned industries profitable. The government will continue all kind of policy support for development of the ship building sector, he said.
Presided over by Industries Secretary Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah, the function was addressed by Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan and State Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Jabed, among others.
