The construction of 52 new rail bridges under Chittagram -Dohazari Rail line Modernisation project out of 57 ongoing have been completed in the meantime. The works of the remaining 5 bridges is progressing in full swing.
Additional Chief Engineer of Railway , East Zone and Bridge Project Director Md.Golam Mustaf told the media that the whole bridge modernisation project of Tk.232 crores is expected to be completed by end of current fiscal. Railway sources said following the construction of new rail bridges beside the century old old bridges of Chattogram -Dohazari rail track, train accidents will be declined by maximum extents. Sources said due to old railway track and tottering bridges in this route, often experiencing rail accident and furnace oil laden tank lorry . While visiting the some areas of railway track in Patiya and Boalkhali section, beside new rail track, construction of new bridges undergoing in full swing aimed at completing the project work by June next. Mentionable that the project for modernisation of Chattogram -Dohazar rail line taken in hand about 9 years ago and maximum portions completed in the meantime and the station renovation works still hanging.
In separate project, the works of new rail bridges are undergoing . The Project Director and Additional Chief Engineer further said the project for constructing 57 new rail bridges from Solashar station to Dohazari station taken in hand 2014 at a cost of Tk.232 crores. Out of the total 57 bridges, the works of 52 already completed nd the ramaining works of 5 bridges will be completed by June next.
Meanwhile, the works of Dohazar -Coxsbazar railway line launched recently during the tennure of present government and before undergoing the project works, the century old old track and bridges will be replaced on priority basis , sources said.
