Police on Saturday arrested a doctor in Chattogram for circulating an audio clip on coronavirus-related deaths that went viral on social media several days back.
Bijoy Basak, Deputy Commissioner (North) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), said, “A team of Panchlaish Police Station arrested Iftekhar Adnan, a doctor, on charge of spreading rumour about coronavirus on social media.”
A 35-second audio clip that addressed someone named Rohan, mentioned death of coronavirus patients in a hospital and went viral in Facebook messenger groups several days back. The law enforcing agencies did not disclose further in this regard.
