The journey from Chittagong to Dhaka by train will minimize about one hour than existing after the completion of the double rail track from the port city to capital city.
Out of total 321 kilometer rail track from Chittagong to Dhaka, 249 kilometers line already doubled and the remaining 72 kilometers already underway and expected to be completed by next year, said higher railway official.
Mentiionable that Prime Minister has inaugurated the 61 km long track from Laksam to Cinki Astana on April 19 last.
Railway sources said the up train from Chittagong and vice versa will reach Dhaka and vice versa within 4 hours journey after completion of the double track project. Project Director of the Project Md. Mozammel Hoque told The New Nation that the project work for 72 kilometers started from November 16 last which will be completed by next four years .
The project expenditure estimated at Tk.6,504 crores.
In the meantime Railway Minister has requested the contractors of the railway track project to complete the project by 2018, he added.
