Among the city’s decorators’ owners and workers, 300 poor families have received the Prime Minister’s gift items from district administration on Sunday. The gifts were distributed at 11 a.m. yesterday (July 4) at the gymnasium adjacent to MA Aziz Stadium.
Chittagong Divisional Commissioner was present on the occasion as chief guest. Each packet of gifts included 10 kg of rice, 1 kg of pulses, 1 kg of sugar, 1 kg of salt, 1 liter of soybean oil and 1 bar of soap. Volunteer Team SAARC Bangladesh Foundation assists in the relief work.
Speaking as the chief guest, Divisional Commissioner Kamrul Hasan said there would be no food crisis for any helpless people who lost their jobs during the strict lockdown announced by the government to prevent corona.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the worthy daughter of the Father of the Nation, has instructed us to take care of this matter.
Under the direction of the government, the gifts given by the government are being delivered to the houses of the destitute, extremely poor and indigent people of the society.
At this time, it is being strictly supervised so that no unemployed person is excluded from government assistance. He called upon all to be aware of corona, maintain physical distance and observe 100% hygiene including wearing mask.
The divisional commissioner said that among the lower and middle class people who are hesitant to seek help in public or call the government on 333 and send an SMS to us asking for help, gifts are being delivered to their homes every night. We want no one to starve in this situation.
Speaking on the occasion, Chittagong Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given clear instructions to bring relief to all the working people who have lost their jobs or are in dire straits in the Corona situation.
Everyone who is living in extreme lockdown will be brought under government relief. He called upon the government as well as the rich people and institutions of the society to come forward to help the unemployed people in the lockdown.
