Chittagong customs authority realised a recorded amount of revenue in last 3 months upto March last than the corresponding period of the last year. Sources said during the last months oppositions blockade and hartal programs, CCA earned Tk.1380 cr more than the previous year of the period.
The target of the revenue income from VAT, import duty, supplementary duty on imports was Tk.5,722 cr for these three months but revenue realized Tk.6,688 cr during the period.
On the other hand the target of revenue income was Tk.5308 cr in first three months of 2014 and achieved the target.
A reliable sources of CCA said the impact of the opposition’s program could not affect the business transactions of the chittgong port and customs and Customs achieved more than their desired goal. Meanwhile total imports during the last January and Februay was 66lakh 87 thousand Kgs commodities from abroad costing of Tk.30,525 cr and the duty realized from these commodities Tk.4,417.44 cr, sources said.
