Ctg Customs earns revenue of Tk 59,256 cr in last FY

The country’s largest revenue earning house Chittagong Custom House has collected revenue of Tk 59,256 crore in the financial year 2021-22 against the target of Tk 64,065 crore.In the previous financial year, 51 thousand 57 crore rupees was collected.
According to Custom House sources, Tk 3,064.43 crore is due in the current financial year. Of this, Petrobangla owes Tk 3,899.27 crore, Padma Oil Company Tk 117.83 crore, Meghna Petroleum Tk 264 million, Standard Asiatic Oil Tk 5.6 million, Summit LNG Tk 5.11 million and Accelerate Energy Tk 1.3 million. Bangladesh Police has arrears of Tk 34.21 crore.
If the arrears are taken into account, the revenue collection stands at Tk 63,140 crore. Additional collection including arrears was Tk 11,584 crore, an increase of 22.42 percent. Excluding arrears, additional collection is Tk 8,060 crore, growth is 15 percent than the previous fiscal..
Chittagong Custom House Commissioner M Fakhrul Alam told media in an immediate response, “We think we have been able to collect revenue well.” Excluding arrears, our growth is about 15 percent. This is 15 per cent more than the 23 per cent growth in the previous financial year.He said besides collecting revenue, Custom House is working to curb smuggling, address national security risks, import goods under false pretenses, stop revenue evasion as well as create trade, investment-friendly environment and employment.
