A court here on Thursday summoned five people, including executive director of Bangladesh National Woman Lawyers’ Association (BNWLA) Advocate Salma Ali, in a case filed for embezzling about Tk 50 lakh.
Other accused in the case are: BNWLA director Advocate Wahida Idris, Bangladesh Human Rights Implementation Agency’s Chittagong unit general secretary Mokhlesur Rahman Farhadi, his associate Rezaul Karim Reza and Nasrin Sultana.
A destitute woman named Kohinoor Begum filed the case with the court of Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Farid Alam on Thursday.
Advocate Habibur Rahman Azad, lawyer of the complainant, told reporters that the accused allegedly collected Tk 5,160,000 from 300 poor people from June 1, 2015 to July 30, 2015 by promising to provide them with ration, but the sum was embezzled.
