The body of a 10-year-old boy, who had gone missing after falling into a roadside drain at Sholoshahar in Chattogram city on Monday, was recovered from another drain in Muradpur area on Thursday.
Babu Mia, sub-inspector of Panchlaish Police Station, said local people spotted the floating body of Kamal in the drain, two kilometers off the spot from where he had gone missing, around 11:45 am and informed police.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to a local hospital morgue for autopsy.
According to local people, Kamal and another boy Rakib, 14, fell into the drain while crossing the area amid a drizzle.
Rakib managed to come out but Kamal drowned.
Kamal’s father did not inform the matter to fire service or police instantly as he is mentally sick.
Earlier on September 27, university student Shehrin Mahmud Sadia died after falling into an open drain in Agrabad Badamtali area of the port city.
On December 5, the High Court issued a rule questioning why authorities concerned will not give compensation of Tk 10 crore to the family of university student Shehrin Mahbub Sadia.
Besides, Saleh Ahmed, 50, a pedestrian went missing falling into a drain in Muradpur area of the port city on August 25.
