National Cricket Championship: Ctg beat Sylhet by 16 runs

A five-wicket haul by Kazi Kamrul enabled Chittagong DSA to earn a 16-run victory over Sylhet DSA in the 35th National Cricket Championship at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna on Tuesday.
Sent in to bat first, Chittagong DSA were all out for 158 runs in 47.1 overs with middle order Sajjadul Haque contributing team highest 44 runs.
Besides, Imrul Karim (28), Iftekhar Sajjad Rony (not out 23), Kafiluddin (21), Nayeem Haque (17) and Moinuddin (12) were major scorers for Chittagong reaching the double digit.
Syed Khaled Ahmed was the most successful among the Sylhet bowlers grabbing four wickets for 26 runs. Mehbub Hasan and Rahatul Ferdous took two wickets each conceding 32 and 33 runs respectively.
Chasing an easy target of 159 runs, Sylhet DSA were dismissed for 142 runs in 34 overs despite one down Rumman Ahmed hammering the match highest unbeaten 70 runs off 97 balls featuring four fours and three sixes.
Towfiqur Khan (26) and Mehdi Mehbub (13) were the other two Sylhet batsman reaching the double figures.
Kazi Kamrul bowled devastatingly to claim five wickets for 26 runs in his eight overs spell with a maiden and was adjudged man of the match. Iftekhar
Sajjad Rony bagged two wickets for 16 runs.
In the day’s other match, Jessore DSA managed a two-wicket victory over Narayanganj DSA at the Shaheed Aminuddin Stadium in Pabna on Tuesday.
Narayanganj DSA opened the innings first after losing the toss and scored 191 for 8 in 50 overs.
Sheikh Humayun (not out 48), Ariful Islam (40), Rony Faisal (31), Jony Talukder (29) and Rayan Rafsan (18) were the main contributors for Narayanganj DSA.
Former national cricketer Tushar Imran and Murad Khan captured two wickets each giving away 23 and 38 runs respectively.
In reply, Jessore DSA reached their target scoring 194 for 8 in 49.5 overs with Hasanuzzaman making the team highest 43 runs.
Captain Tushar Imran scored 30, Mustafizur Rahman 20, Imranuzzaman 18 and Mahfuzur rahman 16 runs, but Lakamatuzzaman scored an unconquered 21 runs off 23 balls with two fours in crucial moment and was adjudged the man of the match.
Sheikh Humayan and Rony Faisal took two wickets each for 26 and 48 runs respectively.
