To press home an eight-point demand that includes a Shibir-free campus, Chittagong city unit of ruling Awami League’s student body Bangladesh Chattra League (BCL) held a demonstration by spilling blood in front of the Chittagong College Principal’s office on Saturday afternoon.
A group of city unit of BCL led by its General Secretary Nurul Azim Roni collected the blood from a total of 29 activists before the demonstration.
However, Principal of the college Jesmin Akter was staying in her office at that time. On information, police rushed to the spot and took the situation under control.
A total of 55 policemen have been deployed on the college campus area and four other gates among five have been closed for ensuring security.
Roni told the Daily Observer, “We’ve spilled our blood demanding security of the students of the college.
We demand a Shibir-cadre free campus and we’ll give more blood if needed.”
Meanwhile on December 31, 2015, they placed an eight-point demand at a human chain held in front of The Chittagong Press club.
Their demands are: setting up permanent police camp in the campus, closure of 16 alternative gates, closure of all residential establishment in the campus, evacuation of all Shibir cadres from hostels and suspension of all the part-time employees etc.
