Advocate Enamul Haque of the BNP-backed Nationalist Lawyers Unity Council has been elected President of the Chittagong District Bar Association and Advocate Abul Hossain Mohammad Zia Uddin of the Awami League-backed combined lawyers Coordination Council has been elected general secretary.
Chief Election Commissioner Advocate Mohammad Humayun Akhter announced the results yesterday morning.
Enamul Haque got 1,835 votes for the post of president. His nearest rival, Abu Mohammad Hashem of the Combined Lawyers Coordinating Council, received 1,549 votes.
Abul Hossain Mohammad Zia Uddin got 1,945 votes who elected secretary and Md sirajul Islam chowdhury Of Nationalist Lawyers Unity Council. Sirajul Islam Chowdhury got 617 votes.
According to the final results, the Awami League-backed Combined Bar Coordinating Council has won a total of 14 posts including general secretary, vice-president, jt. -general secretary, finance secretary, library secretary, cultural and sports secretary and seven members.
On the other hand, the BNP-backed Lawyers Unity Council has won a total of five posts including president, senior vice-president, information technology secretary and three members.
