An airport staff was sent to jail on Wednesday after he surrendered before a Chittagong court seeking bail in a gold smuggling case.
The accused is KM Nuruddin, Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport’s traffic helper.
According to the prosecution, Customs officials recovered 25 gold bars searching the baggage of one Alauddin Chowdhury of Boalkhlai who arrived at the airport from Dubai on November 1, 2013.
In December, 2014, Assistant Director MH Rahamatullah of Anti-Corruption Commission, Chittagong, filed a case accusing four people in this connection.
The accused are Customs Assistant Revenue Officer Anisur Rahman, KM Nuruddin, Alauddin and airport steno-typist Momen Mokshed.
