Defending champions Chittagong Abahani Limited were eliminated from the 2nd version of the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup Football after conceding 1-2 goals defeat against Pocheon Citizen FC of South Korea in the 2nd semifinal at the floodlit MA Aziz Stadium here Tuesday evening.
Pocheon Citizen FC will play the final on Friday (Mar 3) at 6:30 pm against TC Sports Club of the Maldives, which booked a seat for the title deciding match eliminating Manang Marshyangdi of Nepal by 1-0 goal in the first semifinal on Monday at the same venue.
With the day’s debacle, all the three local teams-Chittagong Abahani, Dhaka Abahani and Dhaka Mohammedan SC-were eliminated from the eight-team tourney before reaching the final to the frustration of the home crowd.
Chittagong Abahani Ltd qualified for the semis as the Group B champions securing five points from three matches with unbeaten record while Pocheon Citizen FC also reached the semifinal as Group A runners-up also with five points and unbeaten run.
