The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) has urged the government to take measures, including the money whitening facility, to increase cash flow in the capital market for the fiscal year 2022-23.
Asif Ibrahim, chairman of the port city bourse, made the recommendation during a press conference on the proposed national budget on Saturday through a digital platform.
“Morally, we also do not want to legitimise undisclosed money as this step will discourage honest taxpayers. But considering the current economic situation, we are looking for opportunities to invest money in the development of the capital market,” he said.
The CSE chairman expressed his hope and said that this will increase the capital market liquidity and the government revenue as well.CSE also requested the government to cancel the double taxation on dividends. “We want the investors’ tax-free dividend income limit to be increased to Tk 1 lakh from the existing Tk 50,000,” he also added.
The proposed budget for FY2022-23 placed on Thursday withdrew the black money whitening facility through the capital market investments.
