The fifth founding anniversary of Chittagong Reporters Unity (CRU) observed at the venue of Chittagong Muslim Institute Hall yesterday ( March 30) with Kiron Sharma in the chair.
The day-long programs of CRU include rally , discussion meeting, raffle draw followed by lunch and cultural events.
Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Mesbahuddin graced the programme as Chief Guest .
Reputed journalists Moinuddin Quadery Showkat, Iskandar Ali Chowdhury, Syed Omar Kabir Hossain Siddiqui and Ln. Nazrul Islam were present as special guests.
General Secretary of DRU (Dhaka Reporters Unity) Raju spoke on the occasion as principal speaker of the programmes, a CRU sources said.
General Secretary of CRU Nazrul Islam conducted the programmes while the Asstt. General Secretary Aminul Hoque Shaheen delivered the address of welcome in it.
Chief Guest Mesbahuddin praised the journalists leaders for playing pioneering role in society building and to rectify the loopholes of the different sectors of the govt and non-govt organizations. He hoped the continuous progress of the CRU in coming days. The principal speaker in his brief d eliberations emphasized the duties and responsibilities of the working journalists. He called upon the young and dedicated journalists to present objective news . On behalf of the DRU , Raju Ahmed congratulated CRU for arranging a nice programs on its 5th founding anniversary, sources said.
The special guests in their short deliberations praised the ongoing activities of CRU and hoped future prosperity with untied efforts of the reporters. They also demanded the independence of media side by side of democratic rights of the people.
The President of the CRU delivered concluding speech followed by cultural functions and raffle draw.
